Have you thought of visiting the Biosphere Reserve of Monter Azules? This is one of Mexico’s most important National Protected Areas for jungle. We invite you to walk our interpretative path and let us share with you this marvel.

Itinerary

On day one, you will normally get to Las Guacamayas in the evening, after a few hours of road. Rest, take your time and have some dinner at our restaurant (not included).

On day 2, you will be awakened by the sound of the howler monkeys… rise up and come to our restaurant for your American breakfast (included). Get ready for adventure.

As a start, our navigation team will take you in our boat to the entrance of the Biosphere Reserve, on the other side of the Lacantun River. Once there, we will start a hike in a trail almost fully shadowed by the trees and foliage. If the weather conditions and time of the day are optimal, there is a strong chance to observe wild pigs, tapirs, monkeys and deer, as well as minor fauna, insects an exuberant flora and small streams. Further on, we will reach a small lagoon in the reserve where we will observe wild ducks and herons.

The loop will take us back to the Lacantun river, where we will be picked up by our team and taken to the lodge. Remember to follow our guide’s instructions, as well as the suggestions for clothing and hiking shoes.

Upon return, rest in your hammock for a while or enjoy our river view before coming to the restaurant for lunch (not included).

In the evening we will continue our discovery of Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve, this time by boat: we will enjoy a two hour trip through the river to admire the scenery and some fauna: it is common to observe monkeys, moreleti crocodiles, iguanas, herons, kingfisher. If we are lucky, me might also observe jaguar, tapir and otters, among other species.

By the end of the second day, rest take your time and have dinner at our restaurant (not included).

Early no Day Three we will visit the Red Macaw conservation area. For their reproduction and subsistence, we build artificial nests that you will be able to see. During our walk we might also see toucans, parrots, spider monkeys, howler monkeys and hummingbirds, depending on the season. Sighting for red macaw depends a lot on the time of the year.

At the end of the activity, take your time to relax and then join us for breakfast (American style, included) at our restaurant. Your check out is scheduled at 12:00 the last.
