How to get to “Las Guacamayas”
VÍA PALENQUE: you take the Southern Border Road (Carretera Fronteriza del Sur, Palenque-La trinitaria) and in the kilometer 205, after Benemérito de las Américas community, you make a right to Zamora Pico de Oro (15 km. of paved road in bad conditions). From there, continue another 15 kms to get to Las Guacamayas.
There is public transportation: From Palenque take a combi to Benemérito de las Américas or Zamora Pico de Oro. In either two places, you will have to ask for a cab to take you to our center.
VÍA COMITÁN: take the Southern Border Road (Carretera Fronteriza del Sur, La trinitaria- Palenque) in the direction of the Lagunas de Montebello, then continue to the entrance of the community Boca de Cahjul. From this point, drive another 32 kms to our ecotourism center.
There is public transportation Comitán – Marqués de Comillas (Zamora Pico de Oro), make sure you ask the driver to drop you by.
IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS:
- Travel with water and snacks or fruits, specially if you travel with kids.
- The Federal road is in a good shape, although narrow. We recommend to travel with enough time during the day at moderate speed. You will find several towns and “topes”.
- The closest gas stations are in Comitán, Palenque and Benemérito de las Américas. Make sure your tank is well filled before taking the road.
